The Making of the Cross
the Cross. it symbolizes what Christianity is all about. it's what our sweet Savior died on for our sins so we can follow Him, believe in Him and have eternal life with Him. the ground is level at the cross too. i love this. i hate judgement, snobbishness (if that's a word), excess, and complexity. i'm simple. the cross. Jesus. God. The Holy Spirit. the Death. the Burial. the Resurrection. the Ascension. and now the Church. Church and Lifegroups that connect you with people that will become your respite.
but the cross. wooden. what kind of wood? it may say that in the Bible, but i missed it. sorry. did they stain it? stupid question, i know. cause why would they stain something a "low life" was going to die on according to the Pharisees. why make it look "pretty".
heavy. for certain as our Savior had to carry it. He struggled to carry it while He was being mocked and sneered.b ut who made it? did you ever think of that? did he believe in Him? if so, did he dread every minute of make a cross because it was his trade. or did he not believe and hated Him like the others and considered it an honor?
picking the wood. no sawing as they probably didn't have that back then. so carving it out with his chisel. bit by bit. did he smooth it?
depends.
if he believed maybe, to make it less harsh on His body. or did he leave it rough hoping the splinters would pierce Him as they torture Him as well.
how much did he get paid to make the cross for the Savior of the World? was it worth it? did he believe once Jesus was on the cross like the robber?
or maybe he didn't even know he was making the cross for Jesus of Nazareth. i doubt it. there was so much talk about Jesus being captured, he surely must have known who he was creating the cross for.
did he make the cross different? if he didn't believe, it was possible he made it bigger so Jesus would suffer more as He carried it. i wonder about that man. i compare him to those who press the button for the electric chair now. but it's different as this cross was for our Savior.
but there's one thing about the cross. Jesus carried it because it represented our sins. they were heavy, our sins. like the cross. but He did so cause He loved me. He loved you. He loved the entire world.
the cross. our sins. heavy.
